Read a QR Code Saved as an Image

This image-first scanner works with common browser image formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WEBP. Choose a photo, downloaded graphic, document export, or saved messaging image. The scan begins automatically and the result preserves both the detected QR format and the original decoded value.

You can also drag an image onto the scan area on a computer or paste an image from the clipboard. Camera scanning remains available when the code is printed or displayed on another device.

Prepare the Image for a Reliable Scan

A QR reader needs to see the square pattern and the light quiet zone around it. Use the original file when possible. If the code occupies only a tiny part of a large photo, crop closer while leaving a clean border around every side.

• Avoid motion blur and screenshots enlarged from very small originals.
• Keep all three large corner markers visible.
• Reduce glare, shadows, and steep perspective distortion.
• Try a less compressed copy if an image from social media does not scan.

Private Local Image Decoding

The selected file is passed directly to the decoding library running in your browser. It is not sent to an image-upload endpoint or product lookup service. Decoded values also stay out of analytics, whether the code contains a URL, password, contact, or plain text.
