Privacy Policy

This policy explains how qrcode-decoder.com handles information when you use the QR code decoder, barcode tools, QR code generator, and related pages.

Local QR and Barcode Processing

Images selected, dropped, or pasted for QR code and barcode decoding are processed locally by JavaScript in your browser. They are not uploaded to our server for decoding. Live camera frames are also analyzed in the browser and are not streamed to our server.

Decoded QR and barcode contents are not sent to Google Analytics, Google AdSense, a product database, or another external decoding service. This includes decoded URLs, Wi-Fi network names and passwords, contact details, email content, phone numbers, SMS messages, locations, calendar events, barcode values, and raw payloads.

Recent Scans and Local Thumbnails

When browser storage is available, the scanner keeps up to 20 recent decoded results in local storage on your device. Each entry may include the decoded value, detected type or format, time, and a locally generated thumbnail. Thumbnails are resized and compressed in your browser, stored separately in IndexedDB, and are not uploaded to our server.

You can delete individual records or clear all recent scans from the History panel. Clearing history removes the corresponding locally stored metadata and thumbnails. Browser privacy settings, clearing site data, or unavailable storage may prevent or remove this history without affecting the core scanner.

QR Code Generation

Content entered in the QR Code Generator is converted into a QR code locally in your browser. Generated content and images are not submitted to a server-side generation service. When you choose Create QR Code from a decoded result, the value may be stored temporarily in browser session storage so it can be transferred to the generator on the same device and tab session.

Camera and Clipboard Access

Camera access is requested only after you choose to start the camera and is controlled by your browser or device. You can deny or revoke permission in browser settings. Clipboard image data is read only when you paste on a scanner page; ordinary text fields are not intercepted. The site does not read clipboard contents in the background.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand general site traffic and tool performance. Google Analytics may process information such as page visits, browser and device details, approximate location derived from an IP address, and interactions with the site. We may record anonymous events such as a successful image scan, successful camera scan, scan failure, or camera opening. Those events do not include the decoded value or image.

Google may use cookies or similar technologies and process information on servers in multiple countries. You can limit analytics cookies through your browser settings and privacy tools.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and information about visits to this and other websites to measure advertising, limit repetition, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where permitted. Ad interactions are handled by Google and its advertising partners. We do not provide decoded QR or barcode content to advertisers.

Server Logs

Like most websites, the hosting server may automatically record standard request data such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, referring page, date, time, and response status. Scanner images and decoded contents are not part of normal page requests because decoding happens locally.

Cookies and Your Choices

Analytics and advertising services may set cookies or use similar storage. You can delete cookies, block them, or limit third-party storage in your browser. Blocking these technologies may reduce analytics or advertising functionality, but the core local decoder can still operate when required browser features are available. External Links

Decoded results and site navigation may link to external websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review unfamiliar decoded URLs before opening them.

Policy Changes

We may update this policy when the website, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
